Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the states that are being effected by the flooding. I have fought and lived through a few floods myself both in New Mexico and Tennessee. They are an amazing and unbelievably destructive force of nature.
In the world of dealing with water we have to rely on the weather reports more then we like. As we all know sometimes they get it right other times not so much. With the current forecast we have postponed the stocking of Big Bend and Big River until next Wednesday and are asking all anglers that have rod slots booked with us over the next few days to give us a call before heading out. We will be keeping an eye on water flows and you will probably be receiving a call from us if water levels get to high but, to be on the safe side please, give us a call before heading out. That goes for all anglers. If you are thinking of fishing anywhere in Virginia this weekend please, feel free to give us a call to get the most accurate water flow updates. Here is the link to USGS current streamflow conditions. By no means does the weather forecast make me believe we are going to have any kind of flooding but, it does make me thinking some rivers might not be fishable this weekend.
Hope everyone has a great rest of the week and weekend. Again, please feel free to give us a call before heading out if you have any doubt about waterflows. Don’t get wrong, fishing in the rain can be awesome, fishing in rapidly rising water, not so much fun.
