February 26, 2010
2:00 pmto4:00 pm
2:00 pmto4:00 pm

This Friday, February 26th, we will be holding our weekly FREE fly tying roundtable. Come and hang out, swill free coffee and chew the fat as we tie flies (since we don’t want to be outside freezing trying to catch fish). If you are new to tying or an accomplished hand, all are welcome. I will be helping out beginners or anyone who has questions about tying or equipment. John Edelen will be on hand too. I’ll be tying some PT nymphs, Zebra Midges, and my “Moorman’s Miracle Midge”. Make sure to bring your equipment and materials although we have a couple of extra vises if you need one. We’ll start fly tying at 2pm and go utill we feel like quitting. As usuall, we’ll have coffee, fun, and friends. After this week we will not be sending out emails to remind people of this event. Please watch here for updates every week.

Class size is limted to 10 people and 2 instructors
Cost is $250 for the day and includes bagels, coffee and lunch
All equipment is provided

Moorman's Stocking

Be sure to view in HD

The TJTU section of the Moorman’s was stocked today at 10am. This should make for great fishing for the next two months! To keep up to date on stockings and fishreports, subscribe to either our fishreport email (to the left) or this RSS feed for the fishreport category.

FISH REPORT

Fished after the stocking. Approx 250 fish were put in including some in the 18″+ range. They’re pretty easy to get right now. Chubby was knockin em on eggs (not patzukes “balls o fire”), and san juans. I got most of mine on thin mints and a couple on nymphs but the common theme is that the new fish want to see things moving–but not too fast. Let your streamer sink then start a slow retrieve. Should be very fun for the next few days. Get out and fly fish if you can but bundle up. It was in the low teens today with wind chill.

Casting and Cabernet!

pollak vineyards

Sunday, May 3rd we will be conducting fly casting lessons along with wine tasting at Pollak Vineyards. Set aside the day for some great wine and fly fishing!

Pollak Vineyards is a small family-owned winery founded in 2003 with the purchase of a 98-acre farm just west of Charlottesville, Virginia. Today we have 25 acres of French vinifera planted with the intent of making estate grown wine that has the finesse and balance of the traditional French varietals.

“We hope visitors will come and experience what we loved from the moment we saw it – Virginia’s countryside, now a piece of Virginia’s wine country. It can be savored with a glass of wine on our expansive porch with beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and our earliest vineyards.”
- Margo Pollak
