Fish Report: Big Bend Farm Trophy Trout Fishing-11/15/2011
Just got done stocking another 250 big rainbows AND 250 Browns @ Big Bend Farm last week. Fishing is fantastic right now especially as the temps have been warmer than usual leading to increased bug activity. The dry fly fishing has been outstanding on size 14 Elk Hair Caddis, especially in the afternoon. Fishing is pretty simple right now and they will take a variety of patterns–a few times. I like to fish the caddis on top with my Detonator Soft Hackle as a trailer. You can see how to tie it here It is meant to imitate an emerging caddis. I fish this pattern in 12-16. Just throw across stream and let it swing down to fish. Sometimes i give it a bump or two if fish need some encouragement. I custom tie this pattern in lots of 6. Contact me if you want some.

Fish Report: TJTU Section of the Moorman’s
THIS SECTION WILL BE STOCKED FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18.The river has been stocked and is fishing OK. Need more fish which will come soon. Fish aren’t chasing streamers as much as normal probably due to increased pressure but you can get your fill on the miracle midge or any white or light Zebra Midge. Size 18 and if you don’t see rises then sink it deep and twitch it. Yearly passes are on sale at the store for $50. This is one of my favorite places for a 2-3 hour getaway.
Fish Report: Blue Ridge Mountain Streams
Fishing is great although we need a bit more water. Drys are your best bet with this warm weather. Caddis, Stoneflies or the Mr. Rapidan are all good bets. Its not rocket science. My favorite rods are the Orvis Superfine Touch in 6-7ft 3-4wt or the Hardy Glass Rods in the same configuration.
