Fishing Report – 3/4/15
This fishing report is more of an outlook, because hopefully we’ve got conditions to look forward to next week. It looks like we’ve got more snow coming tomorrow. This rain and snow melt will bump water levels this weekend and next week. It’s a great opportunity to throw those streamers you’ve been gawking over on the vise through this cold stretch.
Private Waters –
Our private waters are mostly cleared of ice and should stay that way. Sugar Hollow Farm is fishing VERY well! With the ice clearing, these fish are especially willing to chase small streamers. We will most likely see a bump in water levels out at Big Bend Farm and Big River Farm, where your larger streamers should show productivity. The calendar is filling up, give us a call at the shop to book!
Public Waters –
The South River and Spring Creeks have stayed ice free and been productive through this cold spell. Nymph rigs, small dries and streamers were catching fish. Look to throw streamers this weekend with this rain as well as snow melt bumping water levels.
Mountain streams have mostly shed their ice but hiking can be slick with this snow (and more to come). Next week should be awesome on the high gradient streams. With warmer weather in the forecast, the snow melt ought to bring up water levels nicely. Running small buggers if the water is off color can be extremely effective or; attractor nymphs as clarity improves.
This warm snap should really kick everything into full gear!
