A few words from South Holston River Lodge:
“The South Holston River Lodge offers the finest fly fishing immediately upon arrival. Our guides spend hundreds of days on the river each year and are happy to share with you all the elements of technique necessary for catching trout and bass on our waters – regardless of your experience level. We are passionate about our sport and will do everything possible to make sure your time on the water is educational and enjoyable. Although dry fly fishing is a staple on our waters, a typical day fishing on of our tailwaters may include nymphing or streamer fishing as trout adapt to changing water conditions and aquatic incest hatches.Your guide will work with you to find the best approach that fits your experience and expectations. The South Fork of the South Holston River is a cold, clear tailwater holding between 4,000 to 6,000 trout per linear mile. Our fish average from 10 to 20 inches in length, but wild browns to 10 pounds are caught each season. If you haven’t experienced a summer time Sulphur hatch on the South Holston, you are missing one of the best dry fly fishing experiences of your life”. In addition there are opportunities to catch freshwater striped bass while floating lower sections of the river.
We run a number of hosted trips to the South Holston each year. We would love for you to join us one one or more of them. This is truly an amazing river and lodge. However, if the timing of our hosted trips do not fit into your schedule, we are happy to help you arrange your stay and fishing. Or, if you just want to go it alone please, feel free to give us a call for up to date flow and fishing report.
