Belize River Lodge tarpon.
Belize River Lodge,
November 3-10th, 2018. One spot remaining.
The Belize River Lodge is one of the oldest/longest operating lodges in Belize. One visit and you will see why.
Owners, Mike and Marguerite believe that outstanding hospitality is just as important as outstanding fishing. You will experience both during your stay.
Originally built in 1960 by Vic and Betty Barothy, it’s guest log is amazing. Not only from all the famous people that have fished there but, with families that have been fishing there every year for decades. Again, one trip there and you will want to return as often as possible.
Located just a few miles from the Belize airport you can be on the water fishing within minutes of landing. Although our hosted trips are 7 nights 6-6 1/2 days of fishing, due to the ease of travel Belize River Lodge is a great tropical option for anglers that just looking for a long weekend. We are happy to help setup trips of any length.
The Belize and Sibun rivers are full of snook and tarpon and it’s a very short boat ride to flats that hold bonefish and permit. If you have always wanted to check tarpon off your bucket list, this is the lodge where you can make that happen. There are small tarpon year round 5-30lbs and large migratory fish that will start to show up in February/March. Another fly fishing accomplishment anglers have a realistic opportunity of accomplishing on any giving day while at Belize River Lodge is the slam, tarpon, bonefish, and snook. A super slam tarpon, bonefish, permit, and snook is never out of the question either.
In addition to the river lodge, spending a few days and nights at the Long Caye outpost is a must. This area is best known for “Grand Slams” or “Super Slams”. Tarpon and Snook fishing is on the back side of the island, about 5 minutes away. Some of the best Permit and Bonefish flats are out front and very close by. The Long Caye Channel and Miami Beach Flat are known for large Tarpon. Basically, all of the fishing is right in your front or back yard, while still offering all the variety that Belize River Lodge is known for, Tarpon, Permit, Bonefish, Snook, Jacks, ‘Cudas, Snappers, and more.
Here is what Yellowdog flyfishing Adventures had to say about the outpost, “Long Caye is also known as one of the most productive tarpon fisheries in the entire Caribbean, and the area is home to resident fish that range in size from 20 to over 150 pounds. We love the permit fishing in this area as well, and feel that Long Caye is home to some of the largest permit in all of Belize.” ~ Yellowdog FlyFishing Adventures
For nearly three decades Turneffe Flats has been known as one of the Caribbean’s finest saltwater fly fishing destinations.
