This scenic and outstanding trout fishery is only minutes away from downtown Charlottesville. Featuring long deep pools, riffles, and beautiful rock/cliff structures, GT is absolutely breathtaking. The mostly freestone bottom offers great caddis hatches in the fall and spring and makes for easy wading for the most part. During the winter months small mayflies are abundant however, nymph and streamers will produce very well.

Whether you are an experienced or a novice angler, GT offers exciting and rewarding fishing for all experience levels. This is our only private water that a guide is required to access. We offer both full and half day options and limit it to one group per day. This means whether you are booking it for yourself or a group outing, you and your guide/guides will be the only ones on the river.

Teaming with rainbow and the occasional brook trout, well placed casts are often rewarded. This stretch of the Moormans river is fairly wide, making casting less challenging then in many Virginia trout streams. Coupled with the ease of wading, anglers can either choose to get very close to their target which can produce some amazing visual strikes or lay out 90′ casts to rising trout. Whichever sounds good to you, GT truly has something to offer every angler.
