Have you ever been curious or wanted to learn about fly fishing? The Albemarle Angler is Central Virginia’s most trusted name in fly fishing instruction.

One of our most popular guided fly fishing trip/lesson is our “Learn and Fish” package, which caters to the beginning fly angler with no experience necessary. Whether you are a complete novice or would like to learn new techniques, we have you covered.

Our Learn and Fish packages can be tailored ranging from a one hour lesson to a full day on one of our beautiful rivers. This is a great package to either learn to fly fish as a single angler/participant or with a group of friends. Our guides will teach you the basics of fly casting, knots and fly selection as well as many other techniques throughout the day. Adding a private water option to this package is a great way to be sure you will have multiple opportunities to also practice setting the hook and fight/land fish.

We offer on the water Learn and Fish package year-round. From September – May, your class will be held on one of Virginia’s beautiful trout streams. During the summer months a popular option is combining the Learn and Fishing with one of our amazing smallmouth float trips.
