Walk + Wade Trips

Walk and Wade trips offer immersive experiences in Virginia’s scenic mountain streams. From small freestone creeks hidden in the Blue Ridge to larger rivers holding wild and stocked trout, the region offers incredible opportunities for anglers looking to experience fly fishing on foot. You can choose to go out on public water or enjoy the exclusivity of our private waters. These trips are about slowing down, reading the water, observing the hatch, and appreciating the places fly fishing takes you.

Our guided trips are tailored to every experience level. Picking up a fly rod for the first time? Wanting to get dialed in on your new gear with your favorite guide? We have a trip for you! Our guides have intimate knowledge of the region’s waters, providing personalized instruction on casting, fly selection, presentation, and stream approach while helping you locate productive water and feeding trout. Half-day and full-day trips are available, with all equipment provided if needed.

Native Trout Wading Trips

Virginia has over 2,300 miles of native trout streams winding their way through our scenic landscapes. The Albemarle Angler guide team knows these well. Blue-line streams stay cooler into the summer, making them perfect for hooking into a brook trout! Wade into the ecology of the region on a half-day or full-day fly fishing trip. Our expert guides are keen to teach how they read streams, delicate presentation, and how to match the hatch.

These trips are for those looking for an immersive experience in the Blue Ridge and Alleghany mountains. Shorter rods, dialed presentation, and smaller flies are the name of the game. There is nothing like wild trout in iconic scenery!
