One of our favorite guided fly fishing trips! If you haven’t done a smallmouth float trip you need to try it! Smallmouth bass are unbelievably strong fighters and aggressive feeders.

Gar in general are aggressive and vicious feeders. The fly patterns we use to target these fish produce some very visual and violent strikes. Some gar really don’t put up much of a fight while others will jump, tail-walk, or put you deep into backing

Tailwater Trout Trips

The Jackson River in Bath County is one of Virginia’s most famous streams. There are plenty of wild Rainbow and Brown trout, some of which grow to very large sizes in this year round tailwater fishery. Generally, we will do a full day float using our Fishcraft rafts to hop from spot to spot then wade fish the numerous riffles, runs and pools of the Jackson.

Guided fly fishing trips to a number of private water within Virginia. All guided trips are limited to three guests plus your guide. Full Day trips include lunch served stream side. South River Preserve

Just under 2 hours from DC, 1 ½ hours from Richmond, 30 minutes from Charlottesville, makes SRP an easy day trip. This 350+ acre property has roughly 1 ¼ miles of the South River flowing through it with just under 1 mile of it being stocked with rainbow and brook trout up to 20+” accessible to Sachems Pass Members. It is also accessible for daily guided fly-fishing trips. Limited to 4 anglers per day.

River House Farm on the Rose River

Located in Syria, Virginia it’s a short 37 miles from Charlottesville and 75 miles from Fairfax/northern Virginia. The River House property offers a ½ mile of river and a very nice pond that holds trout and some very large bass. The half mile of river offers over a dozen great pools, countless riffles and some great pocket water. The diversity of this river makes it a great option for both the novice and experienced angler.

Big Bend Farm on the Cowpasture River

For fly fishing in Virginia, its hard to beat Big Bend Farm. This private trout water is managed to provide the highest quality experience for anglers in terms of both size and quantity of fish. Big Bend Farm’s primary species is rainbow trout however, browns and brookies are never out of the question. Anglers can expect many fish per day depending on environmental factors and the skill of the angler.

Sugar Hollow Farm on the Moormans River

Sugar Hollow Farm is located just 15 minutes from Charlottesville and is one of the areas premier trophy trout fisheries. This is a beautiful 500 acre farm with walnut groves and open meadows. With over 3/4 mile of fishable water, the Moormans river provides an exceptional fly fishing opportunity for those seeking a full or half day respite from the town. The river is typical of your classic Virginia trout stream with numerous pools interspersed with riffles and lovely holding water. This is a great stream to learn how to fly fish on or even take your skills to the next level.
