What a great week. The weather couldn’t make up its mind. Snow one day and 70 degrees the next.
It didn’t seem to bother the fish or deter anglers.
No report for the Jackson this week. Most anglers that were chasing brookies during the warmer days had great success. I’m not sure if catching brookies on dries in 70 degree weather in the middle of February is a good thing or if the world is coming to an end but, we’re all still here so, it sure is fun. We really can’t give you what the hot flies were. If it floated and you had a good drift, they would eat it.
Musky, sounds like the hot bite was Saturday. Of course we chased them on Sunday. It was the old, should have been here yesterday story. We did however move some very nice fish and moved some in new places we hadn’t seen fish before. We will be doing a two day this week so, I hope to have some more musky pictures for next weeks post.
Stocked and private waters have been fishing great. All angler and guide reports were, excellent. We ran our February ladies fishing event on Big River Farm this past Saturday. I can’t say thank you, enough to the 11 ladies that attended and GL for his help. What an amazing day. We had a mix of ladies that had fly fished before and some that had never even picked up a fly rod. A great time was had by all. Everyone caught fish, learned new techniques, fish were caught on everything from dries, midges, nymphs, streamers a mix bag of a little bit of it all.
A big shout-out to Kristin. First day ever fly fishing and she lands the beautiful monster that’s in the top picture. Great job by all. Thanks again ladies. See you all next month on Sugar Hollow Farm.
